| Military Hummers Aren't Easy To Buy |
|
There aren't many vehicles that dominate the road quite like the Hummer. These giant SUVs are are like huge tanks waiting to go to battle. Well, there's no mystery as to why H1's, H2's, and H3's look like they're ready to go to war, because that's what they were originally made to do. The Humvee you see on the highway is a commercial version of the military Hummer used by scores of governments around the world. Now unless you're a real fanatic, you're probably going to be satisfied with buying one of the Hummers sold by GM, as they still come with a bit of a price tag, and they're designed for the regular driver, as they don't come equipped with grenade launchers, rockets, or machine guns. And it's not likely that you're going to see any of the military models on the road, unless you live near an armed forces base. If you're serious about buying one of the military Hummers, you could shop around, like say from a military surplus broker, an intergovernmental agency, or a military Hummer auction, but it's not easy to buy one when the military wants to keep them for their own exercises, as well as many strategic military uses. It's more likely that the military would have their Hummers repaired than to sell them off to collectors and dealers. If you're truly interested in buying a Hummer, you'll probably be better off buying one off of the car lot, and getting a special custom camouflage paint-job to make it look more battle-ready. |
